We’ve had a lovely half-term in Fiona’s fourth class.

We explored fractions using fractions walls and other concrete resources.

We participated in the MS Readathon where we all enjoyed reading even more than usual. Kiera won a prize for her wonderful book cover design for ‘The Happy Prince’.

We loved using all of our scientific skills during science week. We made lava lamps and exploding cola with our Reading Buddies in Zoe’s class. We explored the absorbency of polymers with the other fourth classes – Zac was very brave checking if they had absorbed enough liquid to stay in an upside-down cup!

We really enjoyed using puppets in our Gaeilge lessons.

We discussed our rights & the rights of children around the world, debating which ones we felt were most important to us and to the wider global community.

We began using Chrome Books to publish our creative writing.

We investigated different ways of blending contrasting colours in art.

The three 4th classes took over the Learn Together display boards this month, decorating them with illustrations & information about the festival of Diwali.

In December we were lucky enough to go on an outing to the Natural History Museum (The Dead Zoo) and the National Museum of Ireland, we got to see all kinds of animals and artefacts while soaking up the festive atmosphere in Dublin City.

In December we also held our Students Union and Green Schools elections. We had many wonderful candidates who spoke beautifully to their peers about their plans if they were to be elected. A big well done to all who put themselves forward & congratulations to our new SU Rep & Sub, Zac & Charlotte and our Green Schools Rep & Sub, Alex & Luca.

To celebrate our last day of term in 2024 we had a biscuit house building competition, what they lacked in structural integrity they made up for in tastiness!
